Men's Soccer Off To Semi's, Women Eye Back Door Bronze At Nationals
Day 1 Recap:
NANAIMO, BC. – The NAIT Ooks took on the #1 seed Durham Lords in the quarter-finals of the CCAA men's soccer championship on Wednesday, Nov. 8th at 3:00 pm PST.
The Ooks came out strong in the first half with multiple chances and eight corner kicks, but the Lords were able to hold them off until Zach Kaiser struck in the 45th minute of the first half putting the Ooks up by one. After that, the Ooks Ali Musse took over tallying a second-half hat-trick and leading the Ooks to a 4-0 win.
Ali Musse earned Player of the Game honors for NAIT while Bruce Cullen earned it for Durham. The Ooks will now head to the semi-finals on Wednesday where they will face the host VIU Mariners.
Final Score: NAIT Ooks 4, Durham Lords 0.

HALIFAX, NS. – The NAIT Ooks took on the Douglas College Royals in CCAA women's soccer national championship on Wednesday, Nov. 8th at 3:00 pm AST.
The early stages of the game were choppy with multiple throw-ins by both teams. Neither team was able to establish a strong flow as they tried to get control of the ball. As the teams became more comfortable, the game picked up speed. Both teams began making strong attempts at connections for goals. Douglas College's Sam Kell and NAIT's Alana Mawhinney made names for themselves in the first half with strong positioning and quick movements. Added time did not result in any goals scored. The score was 0-0 at halftime with neither team threatening to score.
The first 10 minutes of the second half had both teams exploding with a newfound, excited energy. NAIT's #10 Kayleigh Moan and #11 Kassy Jajczay dazzled spectators by providing two extremely close goals. However, those entertaining efforts could not stop Douglas College. #24 Martina Pettenon powered through and scored the first and only goal of the game.
The players of the game were #7 Marissa Webb from NAIT and #24 Martina Pettenon from Douglas College.
Final Score: Douglas Royals 1, NAIT Ooks 0.
