The NAIT Ooks held their 54th annual Athletics Awards Banquet on Friday Night, honouring all of the achievements from the 2017-2018 season.
Edmonton, Alta. - On Friday Night the NAIT Ooks held their 54th annual Athletics Awards Banquet in the Shaw Theatre at NAIT.
Headlining the show were the Male and Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Taking home the prestigious award on the men's side was Imran Wadia of the NAIT badminton team. Imran won ACAC Male Player of the Year as well as CCAA Male Player of The Year. Wadia led the Ooks to their eighth consecutive ACAC Team Championship, along with winning men's doubles gold at both the ACAC and CCAA Championships.
On the female side Megan Loyns of the NAIT women's soccer team was named Athlete of the Year. Megan was named ACAC Women's Soccer Athlete Of the Year along with CCAA All-Canadian, ACAC All-Conference & NAIT Women's Soccer Most Valuable Player. She led the NAIT Ooks to a 9-1 regular season record along with an ACAC Silver medal and a 4th place finish at the CCAA National Championship.
Jordan Teliske of the men's volleyball team took home the Athletic Directors Award of Excellence for displaying all of the values of what it takes to be an Ook both on and off of the ice.
