Ooks Men’s and Women’s Soccer Both Win Gold at ACAC Championships, Advance to CCAA National Championships
EDMONTON, ALTA.- The NAIT Ooks men's and women's soccer teams both won gold at the ACAC Soccer Championships this past weekend at SAIT in Calgary. The teams will now move onto the CCAA National Championships.
Women's Soccer vs. CUE Thunder 1-0, vs. SAIT Trojans 2-1, ACAC Gold
- Yuri Akatsu named ACAC Championship MVP
- Marissa Webb and Kaily Mohn named ACAC Championship All-Stars
- Carole Holt named ACAC North Coach of the Year
Men's Soccer vs. Lethbridge Kodiaks 4-0, vs. CUE Thunder 6-0, ACAC Gold
- Cristian Lima named ACAC Championship MVP
- Abraham Dukuly and Matt Zima named ACAC Championship All-Stars
- Abraham Dukuly named ACAC Rookie of the Year
Men's Hockey vs. CUE Thunder W 5-2, W 4-1
- Thomas Foster had 3 goals and 3 assists on the weekend and 3rd in ACAC scoring with 12 points.
- Ooks are 5-3-0 and sit in fourth place in the ACAC.
Women's Basketball vs. GPRC Wolves W 52-50, W 71-53
- Sydney Hurlburt had 28 points and 8 rebounds
- Ooks are 3-1-0 and sit 2nd in the ACAC North Division
Men's Basketball vs. GPRC Wolves W 88-73, L 86-62
- Jamaal hinds had 27 points and 13 rebounds this weekend.
- Ooks are 2-2-0 and sit in tied for third in the ACAC North Division.
Women's Volleyball vs. GPRC Wolves L 3-2, L 3-1
- Ooks are 0-4-0 and sit seventh in the ACAC North Division.
- Alyssa Clark had 24 Kills this weekend
Men's Volleyball vs. GPRC Wolves W 3-0, W 3-1
- Devon Klein had 24 Kills this weekend and sits 4th in the ACAC with 3.50 kills/set
- Ooks are 3-1-0 and sit tied for 3rd in the ACAC North Division

The NAIT Ooks men's soccer team won gold at the ACAC Men's Soccer Championship on the weekend. Cristian Lima scored 2 goals and 2 assist in two games. Lima was also named to the ACAC All-Conference team and Tournament MVP. "Cristian was great for us again this year, he's dependable defensively and stellar offensively." said head coach Charles O'Toole. Cristian is a 1st year ESL student from Carapicuiba, Sao Paula. |

The NAIT Ooks women's soccer team won gold at the ACAC Women's Soccer Championship on the weekend. Yuri Akatsu led scored the game-winning goal in extra time against the SAIT Trojans in the final game. Yuri was also a defensive force, locking down the midfield for the Ooks. Akatsu was named to the ACAC All-Conference Team as well as Tournament MVP. "Yuri was excellent yet again for us this weekend, she's very sneaky defensively and is a very sound offensive threat as well she deserved the recognition she got this weekend." said head coach Carole Holt. Yuri is a 5th year ESL Student from Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. |
