The NAIT Ooks badminton team won three gold medals at the ACAC Championship on Sunday.
EDMONTON, ALTA. - The NAIT Ooks badminton team had a successful outing at ACAC Championships this past weekend at the Concordia University of Edmonton.
The Ooks captured three gold and four silver medals at the Championships. They also got silver in the team event, which ended their eight-year streak of NAIT gold medals. The NAIT Ooks also had several players selected to the ACAC All-Conference team, Eyota Kwan, Connie Juang, Samantha Hsu, and Ryo Kuramochi were selected to the female all-conference team. Tyler Walsh and John Li were selected to the male team. With the Ooks success, they have managed to qualify all ten players to compete at the CCAA National Championships in Nova Scotia, Mar.6-9.
"The results ended up exactly as we predicted. I'm happy with how we played all weekend. I'm also excited that we were able to qualify ten out fo a possible ten players for nationals. I think we have a legitimate chance in all of the events,' said NAIT head coach, Sinead Cheah.
