EDMONTON, Alta. – The NAIT Ooks and Concordia Thunder dominated the individual competition of the ACAC Badminton Championships on Sunday afternoon. The Thunder claimed three gold medals while the NAIT Ooks took home two.
In men's singles, action ACAC male player of the year Roymond Kim from the NAIT Ooks took home the gold medal while Narayan Ramdhani from King's captured silver and Troy Morgan from Olds earned a bronze.
In women's single ACAC female player of the year Takiesha Wang from the Concordia Thunder, Priyanna Ramdhani earned Silver for Olds College, and Concordia's Kassidy Turcotte finished in third.
Nicolas Pittman and Braxton Wong won the men's doubles title with Smit Patel and Tyler Walsh, capturing silver for the Ooks and Noah Jeffrey and Troy Morgan taking the bronze for the Broncos.
Concordia's Jasleen Kaur and Johnna Rymes won gold in women's doubles, while NAIT's Samantha Hsu and Ivy Ung took home the silver and Olds Priyanna Ramdhani and Layce Donaldson settled for bronze.
In mixed double, Alex Fung and Eyota Kwan won gold while their teammates Luc-Ly Nguyen and Connie Juang earned silver with Tyson Tsen, and Kassidy Turcotte got bronze for Concordia.
The gold and silver medalists will now head to Ontario to compete in the CCAA Badminton National Championships at the University of Toronto - Mississauga, March 4-7.
