On Friday night, in their home opener, the NAIT Ooks men's basketball team faced the Lakeland Rustlers. It was an exhilarating game, with the Ooks winning 83-76.
The first 10 minutes of the game between the Ooks and the Rustlers was close. The Ooks came out on top leading the score 16-15.
Early in the second quarter, the Rustlers took the lead when one of their players went to the free throw line to gain two points for his team. Both teams played aggressive defence, putting both teams in a shooting bonus with several minutes left in the first half. At the end of the second half, the Ooks lead 31-28.
After halftime, both teams came out ready to battle for the win. The Rustlers were able to catch the Ooks and gain a lead of their own early in the quarter. The Ooks weren't going out without a fight, though, as they continued their struggle and successfully regained the lead. The Ooks led 49-46 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth and final quarter of play between the Rustlers and Ooks was intense. With just over seven minutes left in the game, the Rustlers were in a shooting bonus, with the Ooks joining them before the five-minute mark. The Ooks won 83-76.
The players of the game were number six, Luka Korsec, from the Ooks and number twenty-three, Noah Simpson, from the Rustlers.
