On Saturday night the NAIT Ooks took on the Augustana Vikings at the NAIT gymnasium. The Ooks came out on top winning 85-55.
The Ooks took the lead early in the quarter, but the Vikings quickly caught up with a dunk from number fifteen, Tyler Weenink. The Ooks weren't letting go of the lead as they kept the Vikings at bay. The Ooks held the lead with a three-point shot from number seven Griffin Lorenz.
It was 28-18 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Ooks continued to hold on to their lead, with their defence successfully shutting out the Vikings. The Ooks weren't giving the Vikings any room, with number six Luca Korosec driving to the basket effectively. Though the Ooks were up 44-31, they took a time out to regroup after the Vikings started to close the gap.
The Ooks kept the Vikings at bay throughout the second quarter ending with a score of 55-34.
The Ooks continued to hold on to their lead but not without the Vikings making an effort to take it from them, with Vikings number eleven Nic Harder driving to the net, drawing a foul, and making both free throws. The Ooks were strong in the offensive zone, with number three Dante Dinter making multiple three-point shots. The Vikings were having a tough time gaining on the Ooks.
The Ooks lead the game after the third quarter 68-44.
In the fourth quarter, the Vikings seemed to be making some advances, but with Ooks' number four Benjamin Kamba's killer drives, the Vikings fell behind again. The Ooks' defence effectively and efficiently shut down the Vikings, winning the game 85-55.
