On Friday night, the NAIT Ooks played the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder at the NAIT gymnasium. It was a close game between the Ooks and Thunder, with the Ooks coming out on top, winning 88-73.
In the first quarter, Ooks quickly took the lead with their incredible offensive drives by number seven Griffin Lorenz and number four Benjamin Kamba. However, the Ooks' defence was struggling to keep the Thunder out, and the Thunder were able to take the lead. The Ooks were struggling offensively, and they called a timeout, hoping to regroup and shift their momentum.
After the first, the Thunder led the game 20-15 over the Ooks.
In the second quarter, the Thunder were efficiently shutting down the Ooks offensively and defensively. Ooks slowly began to gain momentum with great takes from number six Luca Korosec and four Benjamin Kamba. The Ooks tied the score with a great shot by number twenty-three Lodie Kenyi. It wasn't long before the Thunder took it back with a three from seven Yaadvir Dhaliwal. Nonetheless, the Ooks took the lead leaving the Thunder scrambling.
The Ooks lead the game 41-37 going into the second half over the Thunder.
In the third quarter, the Ooks continued to grow their lead with great drives from number eleven Ephraim Humilde and four Benjamin Kamba. The Thunder continued to close in on the Ooks with great offensive plays made by number one Nyasha Mumbayiwa and seven Yaadvir Dhaliwal. The Ooks barely managed to hold their lead; nonetheless, they led the match after the third.
The Ooks lead the game 62-57 going into the fourth quarter over the Thunder.
In the fourth quarter, the Ooks continued to leave the Thunder behind with great defensive plays efficiently but as well as terrific drives by number twenty-three Lodie Kenyi and four Benjamin Kamba. The Thunder weren't done yet and continued to attempt to close the gap with jump shots from number two Nick Gibb and seven Yaadvir Dhaliwal. It wasn't enough, though, as the Ooks won the game 88-73.
