Edmonton, Alta. - Tyler Morrison's goal halfway through the 2nd period proved to be the winner as the MacEwan Griffins defeated the NAIT Ooks 7-3 in game 1 of the ACAC Men's Hockey Final Series.
The MacEwan Griffins opened up the scoring in the first period with a goal in the power play by Sean Mactavish. After a quiet first period, the Griffins struck 4 goals in less than 5 minutes while, Tanner Younghans cut the deficit for the Ooks to 5-1 heading to the third period. Determined to make a comeback, Tyler Kunz and Matt Mcneil scored early in the third for the Ooks. But it wouldn't be enough as Cameron Gotaas extended the lead and Nolan Yaremchuk added an empty netter to set the score 7-3 in favor of the Griffins.
Game 2 of the ACAC Men's Hockey Final Series will be tomorrow, Saturday March 17th at 6:00pm, when the Ooks visit the Griffins at DCA and will look to even the series at 1.
