EDMONTON, Alta. – In a first period that saw a goalie change from the visiting Briercrest Clippers, the NAIT Ooks started shooting early and often and did not let up in a Friday night win that saw two Ook players score hat tricks, putting an exclamation mark on the control they had for the majority of the game, walking away with a 11-0 win.
In a first period that saw the Ooks score thirty-three seconds in, NAIT put the pressure on the Clippers from the beginning of the matchup and never really stopped. With that pressure being applied for most the game, the Ooks already had thirty-seven shots after the second period was over. By the end of the game, the Ooks walked away with a comfortable victory and continued their strong season, pushing their current win streak to three games.
The second period also saw some significant history from the side of the NAIT Ooks, as Jake Mykitiuk became the all-time leading point scorer in the long history of NAIT Ooks hockey, getting to 152 points for his career after his third point of the evening on an assist of a Jared Legien goal. He would ultimately finish with a six-point night and a hat trick to already expand his total as the all-time leader to 155.
The win improved NAIT's home record to 10-1 on the season. The season series is now 3-0 for the Ooks.
