Sherwood Park, Alta. After day one of the 2017 ACAC Men's Soccer Championships it is the Concordia Thunder who made it out of the Quarter-Finals and into the Semi's.
The #3 Concordia Thunder knocked off the #2 Lethbridge Kodiaks in a lengthy match Friday afternoon in the opening match of the 2017 ACAC Men's Soccer Championships, at Emerald Hills Sports Pavillion in Sherwood Park.
A late own goal by the Lethbridge Kodiaks tied the contest 3-3 which then saw it head to 30 minutes of extra time which solved nothing. In the end, it was Jake Gallagher of the Concordia Thunder who ended it in penalties. Shots on net were even at seven a side.
United Cycle Player of The Game for the Concordia Thunder was back up Goal Keeper Adam Ziccarelli who came into replacing an injured Jordan Sosnov, Ziccarelli made multiple key saves late including two in penalty kicks. Player of the Game for the Lethbridge Kodiaks was Peter Ntignee.
With this win, the Concordia Thunder will advance to the Semi-Finals where they will face the #1 Keyano Huskies at 12:00 pm on Saturday.
