CALGARY, ALTA. - The NAIT Ooks defeated the Concordia Thunder 6-0, to earn the title of 2018 ACAC Men's Soccer Champions on the Cohos Commons Field at SAIT on Sunday afternoon.
The Ooks came out flying as they have so many times this season scoring early as Cristian Lima potted a goal in the 5th minute. The Thunder would then weather the storm until David Doe scored in the 44th minute to give NAIT a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half the Ooks struck early again when Matthew Zima scored in the 45th minute. From there it was all NAIT with goals from Chris Gakona, David Doe again and then Brayden Miller to give the Ooks a convincing 6-0 victory and ACAC gold.
"That was a different Concordia team than we saw in league play, they just beat the first seed SAIT Trojans, they played a different game than they usually do. Our guys did a good job of making adjustments and sticking to our game plan. I'm proud of our team," said NAIT head coach Charles O'Toole.
David Doe was named Player of the Game for the Ooks. Matt Zima and Abraham Dukuly were named ACAC Tournament All-Stars, while Cristian Lima was named Tournament MVP.
The NAIT Ooks will now travel to Prince Edward Island to compete at the 2018 CCAA Men's Soccer Championship hosted by Holland College Nov.8-11.
