Mackenzie Emmerson and Taylor Flewin commit to the NAIT Ooks for the 2018-2019 season.
The NAIT Ooks Women's Basketball program is excited to announce the commitment of a pair of talented young athletes for the 2018-19 ACAC Basketball season, Mackenzie Emmerson and Taylor Flewin.
Mackenzie Emmerson (right) a 6'1" Forward from Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert Saskatchewan is the second Ook from this recruiting class to hail from the prairie province. Coach Warnick is very excited by the addition of this talented young woman, "Mackenzie is fantastic person to add to our program, her skillful shooting touch, great hands and her physical presence in the paint on both offensive and defensive side will be very valuable to our program next season and beyond" A former member of the U15 Saskatchewan Provincial team she will join her former provincial teammate Katherine MacDougall who had committed the Ooks a few weeks earlier.
Taylor Flewin (Left) is a 5'7" slashing guard who is a local product of the #2 ranked Jasper Place Rebels in Edmonton, Alberta. Coach Warnick describes Taylor as "an exceptional athlete who does a lot of things that don't show up on a score sheet but are instrumental to winning games. Her physical defensive presence and speed will make her a contributor to our team concept, in addition to her solid basketball background" Flewin has been coached during her time with the Rebels by former Ooks Assistant Coach and current JP Head Coach Lauren Green. "Having worked with Coach Green for a number of years I know that players who come out of her program are prepared for the competitive nature of post-secondary basketball and the rigors of the ACAC," says Coach Warnick.
Both Mackenzie and Taylor will be looking to pursue studies in Personal Fitness Training in September. Welcome to the Ooks!
