EDMONTON, Alta. – In what began as a defensive battle early, with each team applying large amounts of full court pressure, resulted in the Ooks eventually finding the scheme needed to come away with the 76-59 victory in a Friday night matchup with the Concordia Thunder.
NAIT battled back in the second quarter from an eight-point deficit to cut the half time lead for the Thunder to two, sparked in part by guard Katherine McDougall, who executed two three-point plays on back to back possessions to briefly give NAIT the lead.
The third and fourth quarters NAIT were able to gain separation through better offensive execution often started at the defensive end.
Usng a full court defense often, the Ooks were ultimately able to force twenty-six turnovers, including fourteen steals, capitalizing with twenty-three points.
The win pushes NAIT to 7-1 at home on the season.
