EDMONTON, Alta. – In a what was often an aggressive affair, specifically on the defensive end from both teams, including lots of full court pressure and deflections abound, the Keyano Huskies ultimately pulled away in a close contest, winning Saturday afternoon 63-58.
The Ooks struggled to find any offensive rhythm in the first quarter with the length of the Keyano Huskies causing many problems, but the sharpshooting of Sydney Hurlburt and Carly McHarg kept the Ooks in the game, accounting for thirty of the thirty five points scored heading into half time, including all six threes hit from the Ooks.
Much like the game played between the two teams a night earlier, defense ruled the third quarter, where offence was at a premium as both teams executed their schemes to relative success, with the Huskies pushing ahead to a four-point lead heading into the fourth, 47-43.
The aggressive nature of the game did not cease in the fourth quarter as both teams played through a lot of contact and physical play. Overall for the game the two teams were able to force forty-eight turnovers combined.
Keyano were able to take control in large part because of their work on the glass, winning the second chance points battle 16-2.
The loss drops the Ooks to 8-2 at home on the season.
