On Saturday night the NAIT Ooks took on the Augustana Vikings at the NAIT gymnasium.
In the first quarter, the Vikings took the lead early in the game, effectively shutting down the Ooks' offence for the first 4 minutes. The Ooks' offence started with a terrific three from number nine Abi Payne. The Ooks called a time-out in the hopes of getting some momentum. The Vikings called a time-out to regroup, with the Ooks' offence picking up late in the first, but the Ooks couldn't get ahead.
Vikings lead the game with a score of 20-18 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Ooks' defence was efficiently shutting down the Vikings. For the first time in the game, the Ooks tied the score; however, it was short-lived as Vikings number fourteen made a jump shot. But the Ooks weren't letting up and continued to battle for the lead, but the Vikings continued to shut the Ooks out in the offensive zone. With the Ooks down by eight late in the second quarter, the Ooks called a time-out in hopes of gaining some momentum. However, it wasn't enough, and the Vikings continued leading 36-26 going into the second half.
In the third quarter, the Ooks did a great job shutting out the Vikings in the defensive zone. The Ooks were battling hard; however, the Vikings kept them at bay, leading the game 51-32 after the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Viking's defence wasn't letting up. However, the Ooks weren't giving up with a terrific three-point shot from number six Payton Neilson. Looking to gain some momentum, the Ooks took a time-out late in the quarter. However, it wasn't enough, and the Vikings won the game 64-51.
