Kaitlyn Slator has been added to the 2018/2019 Women's Hockey Roster
The Ooks Women's Hockey team is excited to add, Kaitlyn Slator to their 2018/19 roster. Kaitlyn plans to start her academics in respiratory therapy or open studies.
Kaitlyn started hockey at the age of four and began playing goalie shortly after, at the age of seven. To date, Kaitlyn has had a lot of success in the sport, including winning a Provincial Championship in Bantam, while being named to the All-Star team. Her midget career has been with the Westman Wildcats AAA program. The team finished first in the league in 2016/17. Another former Wildcat, currently playing for the Ooks, is fifth-year & assistant captain Kaitlyn Whaley.
Slator says the most impactful people in her academic and athletic pursuits to date are her family. Her parents, Kim & Jason have been her #1 fans along the way, plus her younger sister Rylee. Kaitlyn also mentioned her coach, Myles Hubbard "he convinced my parents to let me become a goalie!"
"We are excited to see the growth in Kaitlyn, with daily practice and specific goalie training. She will be playing alongside veteran, Karlee Fetch," said Coach Deanna Martin. Martin noted that the team intends to keep a three-goalie roster next season.
Kaitlyn chose NAIT because of the feeling she got when she first arrived on campus, "it felt like home, everyone was so welcoming." The school offers the right academic programs and everything on campus is very accessible.
