Myah Mindus, of the NAX-treme, signs with Ooks for 2018/19 Season
Myah Mindus has commited to the NAIT Ooks women's hockey team for the 2018/2019 Season.
In Midget, Myah made the transition to the PAC saints, then to the Lloydminster Steelers, and now plays for the Northern Alberta Xtreme. Myah is excited to call NAIT home for the next few years, and Coach Deanna Martin is thrilled to have her, "she is an outstanding individual, she shows many of our team values and I believe will develop into a team leader over time." To date, Myah says her hockey highlight has been winning the Female Midget AAA Provincial bronze with the PAC Saints. Myah also has some experience at the provincial level, as she was invited to the U18 Hockey AB Spring camp.
Myah was a true EGHA (Edmonton Girls Hockey Association) prodigy, playing with the association from Novice to Bantam. Myah is unique in this way and is a perfect example of why Coach Martin has emphasized the Mini Ooks program, which was started this year. The Mini-Ooks is a partnership with EGHA, whereby the Ooks provide mentorship to both the Peewee players and coaches. Ironically, Myah's dad Bryan was the one who initiated the program, as the current EGHA President.
