Friday night the NAIT Ooks women's volleyball team had their home opener against The King's University Eagles in the NAIT Gymnasium. The Eagles took home a 3-0 win.
The first set was a close battle between the Ooks and Eagles. The Eagles took an early lead over the Ooks, however the Ooks weren't going down without a fight. Momentum started to shift in the Ooks favour for a short time following a big block made by Ooks number five, Karly Burkinshaw. However, this shift in momentum was not enough to take the first set with the Eagles winning the set 25-20.
In the second set, the Ooks came out strong gaining an early lead over the Eagles. The Eagles battled hard to finally catch the Ooks, and eventually take the lead. The Ook fought hard to come back having some massive blocks by number five, Karly Burkinshaw and number three, Anika Dyck. With the Eagles still in the lead, the Ooks took a timeout late in the set. However, it wasn't enough with the Eagles taking the second set, 25-16. The Eagles lead 2-0 at the end of the second set.
In the third set the Eagles took the lead early keeping the Ooks at bay. The Ooks weren't going away quietly though and fought back, landing some massive attacks and blocks made by number five, Karly Burkinshaw. However the Eagles held on to their huge lead and won the set with a score of 25-10. The Eagles won the match 3-0.
The players of the game were number three, Anika Dyck from the Ooks and number six, Jordan Betsworth.
