The NAIT Ooks took home plenty of hardware at the ACAC Soccer Championship Awards Night.
CALGARY, AB. - The SAIT Trojans hosted the ACAC Soccer Championships Awards Banquet on Thursday night, the NAIT Ooks men's and women's soccer team took home their fair share of hardware, including Carole Holt's North Women's Coach of the Year and Abraham Dukuly's Rookie of the Year Award. Along with the two major awards, the NAIT Ooks had a total of 10 of the possible 22 ACAC All-Conference Awards.
Carole Holt - ACAC Women's North Coach of the Year
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that NAIT Ooks women's soccer coach Carole Holt has been selected as the 2018 ACAC North Division Coach of the Year. The Ooks finished the regular season with a 10-0-0 record, good enough for 1st place tie in the ACAC North division. NAIT finished 1st in the ACAC in goals (59), tied for 1st in the ACAC for fewest goals against (3) and had the 2nd most shots on goal (220). This is Carole's 2nd consecutive ACAC North Coach of the Year award.
Abraham Dukuly - ACAC Men's Rookie of the Year
Abraham's play this season helped lead the NAIT Ooks to a regular season 1st place finish in the ACAC North division with a 9-0-1 record. Dukuly, a 1st year Open Studies student from Edmonton, joined the Ooks after graduating from Edmonton FC Academy, and playing a few games with Edmonton FC. The NAIT midfielder made an immediate impact on his team and the league buy tallying 9 goals and 4 assists this season while maintaining a strong defensive game.
