Oct. 22, 2019 – Edmonton, Alta. – The NAIT Ooks men's and women's soccer teams will begin their playoff run this weekend as they get set to host the ACAC Soccer Championships at the Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion in Sherwood Park. Both teams have earned first-round byes and will open up their tournaments in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Men's Soccer
Led by head coach Charles O'Toole, the defending ACAC Champion NAIT Ooks men's soccer team enters the Championship as the top seed in the north division after finishing the regular season undefeated with a 12-0-0 record. The Ooks have received a bye to the semi-final match on Saturday, where they will face the winner of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks and the Kings Eagles.
NAIT has proven to be an offensive powerhouse once again this season, scoring a league-leading 54 goals while only allowing 4. Forward Matt Zima leads the league with 20 goals. The 12-0 Ooks are the first men's soccer team in NAIT history to go through the regular without dropping any points.
The Ooks will play their semi-final match at 4:00 pm on Saturday. The game will be live-streamed on ACACTV.

Women's Soccer
Led by head coach Carole Holt, the defending ACAC Champion NAIT Ooks women's soccer team enters the ACAC Championship as the top seed in the north division after finishing the regular season with an 11-1-0 record. The Ooks have received a bye to the semi-final match on Saturday, where they will face the winner of the SAIT Trojans and the King's Eagles.
The high flying Ooks set a new ACAC record by scoring 78 goals this season, while only allowing 5. Fifth-year Midfielder Marissa Webb finished tied for first in the ACAC with 19 goals in 12 games. NAIT had plenty of secondary scoring as Aoi Komori scored 14 times while Vanessa Minckler added 12.
The Ooks will be looking to reclaim the title of ACAC Champions for a third straight season this weekend. NAIT has won 5 of the last 6 ACAC Championships.
The Ooks will play their semi-final match at 11:00 am. The game will be live-streamed on ACACTV.
