When I was getting near the end of my playing career, I knew I wanted to get into coaching. I wasn't going to make it very far as a player, but I felt like I had a lot of hockey knowledge and good intentions to help make better hockey players and people. Coaching (particularly at the college level) gives you the opportunity every day to set a good example and help young student-athletes at a pivotal time in their lives. I often think about where I would be if I didn't have such great coaches through junior, college (at NAIT), and pro, and how much they impacted my life. Because of that, I am always motivated to pay it forward in the same way.
What is your favourite part of coaching?
I like the balance between being around like-minded people and hard work. The rest of the planning, administration, and, most importantly, management, leadership, and mentorship of people, is what happens outside the lines, and it never ends. There is no off-season.

Their coaching style and guidance made a significant difference in my life and pushed me closer to my goals, often without realizing it.
I felt that after four quick years of playing collegiate hockey that I had only skimmed the surface of what there was to know about the game of hockey. With an unwavering passion for the game, incredible mentors, and unfinished learning, it was an obvious direction for me to get into coaching.

The biggest highlight of my coaching career so far would be the 2018 Falun Female Frozen Challenge. It was the first women's ACAC outdoor game in Alberta against MacEwan University. Double overtime win with 7 seconds left.
It was an incredible backdrop for a hockey game. Outdoor rink, snowing, lots of fans, and starting to get dark. It wasn't necessarily the best hockey that I've ever seen, but it was undoubtedly one of the most fun and exciting games I've ever been a part of.
