Volleyball
Men's volleyball had a great weekend, beating the Kings University Eagles 3-1 both nights. Joel Nickel had a great weekend leading the Ooks on offense with 10 kills and 7 service aces.
Women's volleyball unfortunately fell short to the Eagles the first night 3-0 but came back stronger on Saturday, taking the Eagles to a 5-set match where the Ooks won 15-11 in the last set. Makenna Doyle had an impressive count of 19 kills with a .515 kill percentage.
Basketball
Men's basketball also had a great weekend, beating the Eagles 84-63 the first night and following up with a 73-62 win on Saturday. Omar Farah led the Ooks in points Saturday night with 17 points.
Women's basketball sadly fell short to the Eagles losing 77-49 and 69-57 the following night. Payton Neilson had 16 points on both nights, with a total of 32 points for the Ooks. They hope to bounce back on Friday the 31st when they take on the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves.
Hockey
Men's hockey had close matches both nights against Red Deer Polytechnic winning Friday 4-3 but unfortunately losing Saturday 5-4. Tyler Blocha had 2 goals Friday night while McCoy Bidewell had 66 saves that night.
Women's hockey fell short to Red Deer the first night, losing 3-0, but came back Saturday night with an impressive 7-1 win over the Medicine Hat Rattlers. Caitlyn Tong helped secure a victory Saturday night with 3 goals.
Futsal
Men's futsal played five games over the weekend starting off their season with a 4-1 record. They beat the Eagles 3-1 on Friday, followed by a 5-2 win over Portage and a 3-2 win over Keyano on Saturday. Sunday, they took on NWP, winning 3-1, and ended Sunday night falling short to Lakeland 5-1.
Women's futsal had a fantastic weekend, winning all 5 of their games. They beat the Eagles 4-2 on Friday, followed by a 9-1 win over Portage and a 2-0 win over Kayano on Saturday. They took on NWP, winning 3-0, and ended Sunday night against Lakeland 4-0.
Curling
Curling performed at the winter regional over the weekend, with the men going 2-2 over the weekend and the women unfortunately falling short, going 0-5 over the weekend. The men's team will move on to the ACAC Championships starting February 7th.
Badminton
Badminton also had another good weekend, with Smit Patel placing second in the men's single, falling short to Hossein Ahmadi from TKU. Khushi Vaniya also placed second against Melissa Roque from TKU in the women's single category.
In Men's Doubles, Smit Patel and Davis Wong came close but ultimately finished 4th, falling to Carl Canillo and Paul Ouano from SAIT.
In Women's Doubles, Noel Do and Samantha Tran took Second, while Anya Caingles and Rachel Chan pulled through and placed third.
In Mixed Doubles, Davis Wong and Khushi Vaniya took home third place, and Ray Wang and Samantha Tran placed 5th.
