Basketball
It was a great weekend for all court sports teams, including basketball. The men's and women's teams took on the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves, sweeping them over the weekend.
Men's basketball beat them Friday night 63-52, with Kohl Wedman earning 11 points for the Ooks and Patrick Fisher Securing 7 points and 11 rebounds.
Saturday night, they beat them again 59-41, with Peter Aluk-Deng putting up 12 points for the Ooks helping secure another victory for the men's basketball team.
Women's basketball had an impressive Friday night finish, dominating the Wolves with an 82-23 finish. Mikah Reed led the charge for the Ooks as she scored a total of 18 points Friday night.
Saturday night, the women returned to secure another win over the Wolves, with the final score being 57-26. Like Mikah Reed on Friday, Rory Vandermeer put up 18 points for the Ooks that night.
Volleyball
Volleyball also had a great weekend, with the Men and Women's teams winning both nights.
The men Swept the NWP Wolves 3-0 Friday night, with Joel Nickle securing 13 kills for the Ooks.
Saturday Night, the men went on another 3-0 sweep, with Josh Watson putting up 14 kills for the Ooks with a .600 kill percentage, helping to secure yet another victory for the men's volleyball team.
Women's Volleyball swept the Wolves 3-0 Friday night, with captain Anna Atcheynum putting up 15 kills for the Ooks and 10 digs.
Saturday Night, the women went to 4 sets, ultimately securing the win 3-1, with Makenna Doyle and Rachel Mallet having 16 kills each for the Ooks that night. Makenna Doyle also had an impressive kill percentage of .625.
Hockey
Women's hockey played Red Deer Polytechnic over the weekend and unfortunately fell short on both nights.
Friday night, they lost 2-1, with Cassidy Shandro putting up a goal for the Ooks, but they sadly could not put up another to secure a win.
Saturday night, the women lost 4-0. Goalie Aurora Van Wormer had an impressive 26 saves that night, but unfortunately, it was not enough in the end for the Ooks.
Badminton
In Badminton, Smit Patel took first in the Men's Singles against Hossein Ahmadi from TKU after a hard-fought 3-set match.
In Women's Singles, Khushi Vaniya took second after falling short to Melissa Roque of TKU during the Gold medal Match.
In Men's Doubles, Davis Wong and Smit Patel took fourth place after a hard-fought matchup between Raphael Motel and Jonathan Su of CUE.
In Women's Doubles, Anya Caingles and Rachel Chan took third place against Taylor Burton and Sienna Pricca of SAIT, while Noel Do and Samantha Tran took second against Ziyu Kong and Archelle Ouano of SAIT.
In Mixed Doubles, Davis Wong and Khushi Vaniya took second place against Raphael Motel and Lauryn Psutka of CUE.
Overall, it was a great weekend for Badminton; they will be back Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th at Concordia University for the ACAC Badminton Championships.
