Day 3 Recap:
The NAIT Ooks took on the Humber Hawks on Sheet C. NAIT jumped out to an early lead with three points in the first end, followed by additional scoring in the second and third ends to extend their advantage. However, Humber mounted a strong comeback, responding with three points in the fourth and fifth end to even the playing field. A crucial single point in the sixth and another in the eighth secured Humber's hard-fought 8-7 victory over NAIT in a thrilling back-and-forth match.
The evening round had The Mohawk Mountaineers matched up against the NAIT Ooks on Sheet A. Mohawk opened with a three-point first end and added to their lead with single points in the second and third ends. NAIT struggled to generate offense, remaining scoreless until the fourth end, where they managed a single point. Mohawk maintained steady pressure. NAIT picked up a consolation point in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback. With a solid 8-2 victory, the Mountaineers secured the win.
Day 2 Recap:
The NAIT Ooks opened the scoring against Assiniboine, but the Cougars answered with a one-point second end and a two-point fourth end to take the lead. NAIT surged back in the fifth end with a three-point score and maintained their momentum, eventually winning 7-3.
Day 1 Recap:
The match on Sheet F, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings faced the NAIT Ooks. Red Deer started strong, scoring three points in the first end and maintaining a solid lead throughout the game. NAIT struggled to respond, despite managing a one-point score in both the second and third ends. The Kings continued to add to their lead, with key points in the fourth and sixth ends. NAIT fought back in the later ends, but Red Deer held firm, closing out the match with a 6-3 win
NAIT Ooks at Nationals
The NAIT Ooks men's curling team is gearing up for an exciting challenge. From February 24-28, they will compete at the CCAA Curling Nationals in Lethbridge, AB, where top players from across the country will battle for the championship.
The Ooks have shown resilience and determination throughout the season. They finished with a 3-5 record in the regular season, securing fourth place. However, they stepped up when it mattered most at the ACAC Championships, earning the bronze medal and punching their ticket to the national stage.
