As the NAIT Ooks gear up for their highly anticipated playoff series, head coach Scott Fellnermayr is focusing on the key aspects that will drive his team's success. With the competition heating up, the Ooks are preparing for a challenge ahead.
When asked about the biggest hurdle his team will face in the upcoming series, Fellnermayr didn't hold back. "Concordia is a really solid team. Their top three lines have speed and skill, and we'll need to play them hard and slow them down." The Ooks will need to focus on neutralizing Concordia's explosive offense and keeping their pace under control.
Reflecting on the season so far, the Ooks have experienced their fair share of highs and lows. However, Fellnermayr is confident that the team's strengths will shine through. "Our season has had its ups and downs, but we are as good as any team when we're playing fast and physical," he shared.
"We have some solid veterans on defense and a young group of forwards that play with a lot of pace. If we stick to that from start to finish in this playoff, we will be a lot to handle."
Heading into the final practices before the series, Fellnermayr and his staff are refining the finer details of the team's strategy. "We're touching on every situation briefly. We know what we need to do, at this point it's just about refining routes and details," he explained. "Quick reminders on forecheck, tracking, breakout etc., then move on and make sure the guys have lots left in the tank for Thursday night."
With the playoffs on the horizon, the Ooks are prepared to battle it out with intensity, focusing on their speed and physicality while fine-tuning their strategy to ensure they hit the ice ready to perform. Fans can expect a fast-paced, hard-hitting series as NAIT looks to advance deeper into the postseason.
