Bio

Ron Barnhart has been in the world of cross-country for over four decades. Barnhart has achieved remarkable milestones throughout his career, including establishing two thriving community-based track clubs.
Barnhart has been an instrumental figure as a coach or technical manager on many provincial teams, with notable contributions to the Canada Games. Barnhart was then appointed as the middle distance coach for the Canadian Junior team against the U.S.A. team in an exhilarating dual meet before moving up again.

Recognized for his exceptional leadership and organizational skills, Barnhart served as the technical manager for the National team at the 1999 Pan Am Games. In 2000, Barnhart further solidified his reputation by serving as the technical manager at the World Cross Country Championships.
After an extensive start to his career, Barnhart finally settled at the Univeristy of Alberta. He worked for the University of Alberta Golden Bears cross-country team for eight years, six of which he was the head coach.
Barnhart holds the esteemed NCCP Level III certification and has served as an NCCP coaching instructor for a decade, imparting his knowledge and experience to aspiring coaches.

His remarkable contributions have been acknowledged through various accolades, including the Alberta Age-class Coach of the Year, Canada 88 Coaching Recognition, and the prestigious R.G. Glassford Coaching Award at the University of Alberta for the 2001-2002 academic year.
