RED DEER, Alta. - The NAIT Ooks curling teams were back in action on Saturday, looking to improve on their 0-1 starts from day one at the 2020 ACAC Curling Championships.
On the men's side, the Ooks opened up the day with an 8-2 win over the Lakeland Rustlers in draw two. In draw three, NAIT suffered a 6-1 loss to the Concordia Thunder 6-1, sending them to the #3 vs.# 4 game where they defeated the Rustler 8-2 again. They will now head to the semi-final, where they will face the Concordia Thunder tomorrow at 10:00 AM for a chance to head to the final to take on the SAIT Trojans.
The women fell to the Augustana Vikings 8-2 in draw two, before bouncing back and defeating the Concordia Thunder 9-3 in draw three. The two teams would then rematch in the #3 vs.#4 game; this time, it was the Thunder who came out on top 8-5. The Ooks will now head to the bronze medal game tomorrow where they will play the loser of the RDC Queens and Concordia Thunder at 2:00 PM
In draw two, the mixed team defeated the Augustana Vikings 8-6. The Ooks then rolled over the Lakeland Rustlers 11-1. In the #3 vs. #4 game, the Ooks fell to the MacEwan Griffins 6-2. NAIT will now face the Lakeland Rustlers in the semi-final at 10:00 AM.
