CAMROSE, Alta. –Sean Michael-Clancey dropped 45 points, but Ooks came up short in the ACAC Men's Basketball Championship semifinal, falling to the Ambrose Lions 103-98.
One night removed from putting up 39 points on the #2 nationally ranked Lethbridge College Kodiaks, Sean-Michael Clancey began right where he left off dropping a deep three seconds into the game leading to eleven points in the opening quarter. Ooks lead 23-22 through ten minutes of play.
NAIT continued to roll early in the second quarter, taking a six-point lead. The Lions didn't go away as they responded late in half, with balanced scoring, solid defense, and some missed Ooks' shots, claiming a 44-40 lead at halftime.
The game remained tight through three quarters as NAIT went on a run to take the lead back. The Lions clawed back to tie the game before at 73, heading into the final ten minutes of play.
The offensive shootout continued down the stretch, with both teams finding ways to score. In the end, it was the Lions who were able to pull away late, taking the game 103-98.
The Ooks will now take on the Keyano Huskies tomorrow at 3:00 PM for the bronze medal.
