Edmonton, Alta, - The newly formed line of Brandon Ralph (6'2"), Jesse Roach (6'5") and Devon McAndrews (6'4") proved that size matters as they combine for the final two goals in the Ooks come from behind victory Friday night in the NAIT Arena.
The Ooks' Jake Mykitiuk started the scoring 4:05 into the game. After that, though the Augustana Vikings scored three consecutive goals to head to the dressing room up 3-1 after 20 minutes. NAIT's Carson Beers and Jarid Hauptman both scored in the second period for NAIT while Dillan McCombie found the back of the net for Augustana for the second time, as they would maintain a 4-3 lead heading into the 3rd period.
In the final period, it was all Ooks as Thomas Foster struck 1:00 into the period to tie the game. Then the towering line of Brandon Ralph (6'2"), Jesse Roach (6'5") and Devon McAndrews (6'4") would take over combining for the final two goals of the night to make it a 6-4 NAIT victory. The Ooks outshot the Vikings 37-23 in the win.
"We played a complete game tonight, in my opinion, I don't think we deserved to be trailing, but we stuck to our game plan and kept competing, and eventually our persistence paid off," said Ooks head coach Tim Fragle.
The two teams will now square off again tomorrow night in Camrose at 6:00 pm.
