The Ooks host Concordia Thunder on the second game of the weekend home and home. Both teams played conservative hockey in the first half of the period. Both teams were struggling to generate any high-danger chances. Things opened up in the second half of the first. They were trading opportunities as the Ooks hit two posts, and the Thunder hit one of their own. A few moments later, Bryce Osepchuk busted down the right side, shooting through the defenceman's legs for the screen beating Concordias goaltender Eric Ward over the glove to give the Ooks a 1-0 lead heading into the first break.
The second period was a back-and-forth start, and neither team could gain momentum. The Ooks started to create some good looks but struggled to get pucks through; The Thunder tied things up midway through the frame on a backdoor feed for an easy tap-in. Moments later, Zach Cunnigham busted down the right side, beating the defender to the net before shoveling it past Ooks goaltender Ryley Osland. The Ooks continued to press to find the equalizer, controlling the play for much of that period. Drae Gardiner got a lucky bounce which sprung him on a breakaway; he ripped it over the glove of Ward for his first collegiate goal, knotting things up at two. As the period ended, things started to get chippy between the two rivals. Heading into the third, it was even at two.
In the third, the Ooks came out flying with two glorious opportunities before Eric Lacombe found the back of the net on a perfectly placed shot over the glove of Ward. The Ooks continued to press as Drae Gardiner found Dylan Stewart in the slot; he went backhand shelf to make it a 4-2 hockey game early in period three. The Ooks never took their foot off the gas as Kye Whillans tipped home a redirection to stretch the Ooks' lead to three. Ryley Osland made some spectacular saves down the stretch. The Ooks get back in the win column in the rematch with a 5-2 victory. Ooks improve to 7-7.
