The NAIT Ooks men's soccer team is set to compete at the 2018 CCAA Championship where they will face the St. Thomas University Tommies in Quarter-final action on Wednesday, November 7th at 7:00 am MDT
EDMONTON – The Ooks men's soccer team is competing at the CCAA National Championship in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island beginning Nov.7th. NAIT will be entering the tournament as the ACAC Champions and will face the St.Thomas University Tommies, who enter the tournament as the ACAA runner-up.
The Ooks captured the conference title with 6-0 victory over the Concordia Thunder in the ACAC Championship final. Led by fifth-year midfielder Zach Kaiser, NAIT finished atop the ACAC North Division with a 9-0-1 record. St. Thomas dropped a 2-1 decision to the Holland Hurricanes in the ACAA Championship final. The Tommies, led by defensive midfielder Kyle Yearwood, improved to 7-2-3 this season and placed second overall in the ACAA.
When asked about the Tommies, Ooks head coach Charle O'Toole said: "Their coach has done a great job. They are a very organized and disciplined team, they have a strong midfield and will be hard to break down." He went on to say, "We need to stick to our game plan, we've had success this season based on doing that, so we aren't going to change much. The boys know how we want to play, I'm going to let do that."
