EDMONTON, Alta. - The NAIT Ooks men's soccer team, led by head coach Charles O'Toole, will open up their 2019 season this weekend. The team will travel to Concordia University of Edmonton to take on the Thunder on Friday at 6:00 pm.
Last year, NAIT finished the regular season undefeated with a 9-0-1 record and went onto win the ACAC Championship Handily. At the CCAA National Championship the team they lost in the semi-final to the eventual Champion Humber Hawks in penalty kicks. The team was an offensive powerhouse setting a new record for most goals in a season scoring 65 times in 10 games.
"The season is made up two parts. The league and Provincials/Nationals, we must be prepared to complete the journey and make the sacrifices it requires to become successful through both parts of the season," said O'Toole.
The Ooks head into this season looking to capture their second consecutive ACAC Championship and advance to the CCAA National Championship once again despite new faces and a stronger league.
"The league is becoming more technical and tactical, which makes for more parity among teams. We know nothing comes easy, we will work extremely hard to be a contender once again this season," said O'Toole. "We are looking forward to some exciting games."
The Ooks home opener will be Saturday, September 14th, when they will host the King's Eagles at 2:00 PM.
