EDMONTON, Alta. – The NAIT Ooks men's soccer team defeated the King's Eagles 2-0 in their home opener on Saturday afternoon at the Strathcona Athletic Park.
It was a back and forth game in the first half as both teams exchanged quality scoring chances. It wasn't until Will Pittman scored in the dying minutes of the half that the tie was broken.
The second half was similar to the first as both teams continued to battle. Last year's leading scorer and this year's captain Matt Zima eventually added one more goal to put the Ooks up 2-0, which is where the score would remain.
When asked about the game, Ooks' head coach Carole Holt said: "It was a battle of attrition. Our boys played well to come out on top over a well organized hard-working team."
Players of the Game:
NAIT Ooks – Rudolfo Aguilar
King's Eagles- Jesse Linford
What's Next:
The NAIT Ooks will now host the Lakeland Rustlers tomorrow at 2:00 PM. The King's Eagles don't play until next Sunday when they will host the Portage Voyageurs.
