The NAIT Ooks men's volleyball team defeat the Lakeland Rustlers in 4 sets on Saturday night.
EDMONTON, ALTA. - The NAIT Ooks men's volleyball team bounced back after an opening night loss to defeat the Lakeland Rustlers 3-1 in the NAIT Gymnasium Saturday night.
The match opened up with a 28-26 set that was won by the Ooks to give them an early 1-0 lead. NAIT carried the momentum over to the second set as they would win 25-21 to take a two-set lead. The Rustlers bounced back with a commanding 25-16 third set victory to bring the match back to 2-1. Doug Anton's Ooks responded in the fourth set with another strong performance claiming the set 25-17 and winning match 3-1.
Devon Klein led the attack with a game-high 19 points while Mitch Lewington added a stunning 52 assists for the Ooks. Alexei Walisser and Tyler Williamson both 12 point nights for the Rustlers, Jose Arellano supported the losing effort with 39 assists.
The Ooks will now play host to the GPRC Wolves next weekend, while the Lakeland Rustlers enter a bye week and then have a home and home series with the Concordia Thunder beginning November 2nd.
