EDMONTON, ALTA. – Leah Vandenboogaard played her 100th career regular season ACAC game on Saturday night, as the NAIT Ooks women's basketball team hosted the King's Eagles.
Leah has played all 100 games in an Ooks uniform. The fifth-year guard from Edmonton, Alberta becomes just the 7th women's basketball player in NAIT Ooks history to play 100 games. During her career, Vandenboogaard has won an ACAC Championship and a CCAA bronze medal, while posting 554 career points, 186 rebounds, 154 assists and 119 steals.
"Leah has been invaluable to our program over the past five years. She reflects all the values of the culture of our program and has been a key builder. From rookie role player, to key cog and team captain, her competitiveness, drive to win and selflessness have personified what it means to be an Ook with the women's basketball program," said Ooks' head coach Todd Warnick.
NAIT currently sits 8-5 in 3rd place of the ACAC North Division. The Ooks will be leaning heavily upon Vandenboogaard throughout the second half of the season and into the ACAC Championship, which will take place from February 28th-March 2nd in Fort McMurray at Keyano College.
