The NAIT Ooks women's basketball team defeated the #5 Augustana Vikings on Friday night.
EDMONTON, ALTA - Sydney Hurlburt dropped 17 points as the NAIT Ooks women's basketball team defeated the #5 nationally ranked Augustana Vikings 60-49 Friday night in the NAIT Gymnasium.
The first half was relatively even with both teams exchanging blows. Augustana would have a 30-25 lead at halftime. Todd Warnick's Ooks came out soaring in the second half though. Allie Hunder dropped seven points in the third quarter as NAIT outscored Augustana 20-13, giving the Ooks a 45-43 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, the story was the Ooks defense and Sydney Hurlburt's offense. NAIT held Augustana to just six points in the quarter, while Sydney Hurlburt caught fire, scoring 9 of the Ooks 15 points. In the end, it was the NAIT Ooks on their home court who would defeat the first place Augustana Vikings 60-49.
"We got contributions from our entire team today. We played solid defense against a very well coach team," said NAIT head coach, Todd Warnick following the game.

The Big Picture
With the win tonight the Ooks improve to 10-5 and remain in a tie with the Concordia Thunder for second place in the ACAC north division. The Augustana Vikings fall to 12-3 and remain in first.
