EDMONTON, Alta. - On Friday night in the NAIT Gymnasium, Todd Warnick led the NAIT Ooks women's basketball team to a 78-63 win over the visiting Keyano College Huskies. The win marked Warnick's 200th career victory in the ACAC.
"It is incredibly meaningful to reach this milestone. It is a credit to all of the student-athletes and assistant coaches I have worked with over the years, which I am thankful every day to have had this experience," said Warnick following the win on Friday.
Todd has spent the last 13 years coaching in the ACAC. From 2006-2009, he was the head coach of the Concordia Thunder, where he won an ACAC Championship in 2007-2008 and was named ACAC coach of the year in 2006-2007. In 2010, Todd took over as the head coach of the NAIT Ooks women's basketball program. In ten years as NAIT's bench boss, he has led his teams to an ACAC Championship and CCAA bronze medal in 2015-2016, along with back-to-back ACAC bronze medals (2012-2013,2013-2014). Todd hits the 200 win marker with an impressive regular-season record of 200-94 in the ACAC.
"Winning 200 games in the ACAC is a major accomplishment, one that I hope Todd is proud of. He [Todd] works hard at his craft and is always thinking of ways to improve our program. He is well respected throughout the ACAC and CCAA and has been a phenomenal ambassador for NAIT and NAIT Athletics," said NAIT Athletics Manager Jordan Richey.
Before his thirteen-year stint in the ACAC, Warnick coached men's basketball at Malaspina College (now known as Vancouver Island University), where he won a Pac-West silver and CCAA bronze medal in 2004-2005.
