EDMONTON, ALTA - The NAIT Ooks fell to the SAIT Trojans 4-3 in double overtime on Seniors night in ACAC women's hockey action.
The NAIT Ooks had a 3-1 lead heading into the final period when the SAIT Trojans turned it on, scoring two goals to tie the game at three. The first overtime solved nothing. In the second overtime, the Ooks would find themselves shorthanded after a very questionable goaltender interference penalty. The SAIT Trojans would capitalize on the powerplay as Tashel Scantlebury beat Kaitlyn Slator with a slapshot from the point to win the game 4-3.
"Tonight we got overconfident and casual, and it costs us. As a team, we recognize that we need to and can be better. We've had a great regular season, and the team is looking forward to playoff hockey," said Ooks head coach, Stef Thomson following the game.
Kaitlyn Slator broke the ACAC record for most saves in a season when she recorded her 558th save.
Verca Kuzelova and Carlin Boey were honoured before the game as they play their last regular season game for the Ooks. They both have played all five years of their eligibility for the NAIT Ooks. Tanel Boeckman was also honoured as she graduates from the personal fitness trainer program.
