Ooks Heading To Nationals For Eighth Consecutive Year
NAIT women's soccer team set to compete at nationals for an eighth consecutive year after earning silver at the ACAC Championships.
EDMONTON – The Ooks women's soccer team is back at the CCAA Nationals for the eighth consecutive year. NAIT will be entering the tournament as the 3rd seed in Pool B, after losing a heartbreaking game in penalty kicks to the GPRC Wolves at the ACAC Championships. The Ooks will face the Douglas College Royals when they open the tournament Wednesday at 3 pm (AST) in Halifax. Coincidentally this will be a rematch of last year's Bronze Medal game; NAIT will be looking for a different outcome this year however as they were defeated in last year's match.
At the CCAA Women's Soccer Awards Banquet Tuesday night, ACAC Player of the Year and ACAC Championship Tournament MVP, Megan Loyns from the NAIT Ooks was named as a CCAA All-Canadian.
QUICK FACTS: The Ooks women's soccer team ended the regular season with 27 points and a 9-1-0 record. In the last seven seasons, the NAIT is 66-2-2 in regular season play, outscoring their opponents 365-32 in that time.
Carole Holt, head coach, Ooks women's soccer team "We are really excited to be back here, and getting to play in the beautiful city of Halifax. We are looking forward to facing some great competition, the team looks ready, and hopefully, we will be successful this week."
