EDMONTON, Alta. - The NAIT Ooks women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy in CCAA quarter-final action on Wednesday afternoon at Clareview Turf Field. 

On a brisk Wednesday afternoon, the ACAC Champion NAIT Ooks were facing off against the RSEQ wildcard Dynamiques de Saint-Foy in the quarter-finals of the 2019 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship.  The Dynamiques were the first to strike as they took a 1-0 lead in just the second minute of play. Laurie Champagne tapped a Meredith St.Pierre corner kick past Ooks' keeper Toni Burse. 

NAIT responded well, as they would keep the ball in the Sainte-Foy end for the majority of the first half, although they were unable to generate any quality scoring chances. Instead, it was the Dynamiques who were the next to score. Rosalie Dumont sent a ball soaring from outside the box over a leaping Toni Burse to put her team up 2-0 in the eighteenth minute. The Ooks went back to controlling the majority of the play for the remainder of the half but found themselves down 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Ooks pushed back, but it was Sainte-Foy who struck ten minutes into the second half, giving them a demanding 3-0 lead. NAIT desperately tried to respond, but they were unable to generate any offense. The Dynamiques would score another goal before the final whistle giving them a 4-0 victory, ending the Ooks chances of obtaining CCAA gold.

"We are disappointed. There's no easy way to describe it. We need to regroup and get ready for tomorrow's game. We have a chance to try again tomorrow, and that is what we are going to do," said NAIT head coach Carole Holt.

One bright spot in the game was the play of NAIT keeper Tony Burse. Despite allowing four goals, it could have been more as Burse made several magnificent saves keeping her team in the game. 

The Ooks will now head to the bronze semi-final, where they will face the Holland College Hurricanes on Thursday morning at 10:00 am.
