Today marked the end of the regular season for both the NAIT Ooks and the Keyano Huskies. It was a hard-fought game, but the NAIT Ooks came out on top, winning 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Edmonton Scottish.
NAIT Ook Gracie Hausch scored two minutes into the game, assisted by Hayat Abubaker and Rayna Hamieh. The NAIT Ooks were up 1-0. Not long after, at the 11-minute mark, Rayna Hamieh hit it home with the help of defenceman Rebecca Stienwand.
The Keyano Huskies tried to get it out of their end, but the NAIT Ooks kept putting pressure on them. The pressure mounted at the 27-minute mark when NAIT Ooks forward Toni Burse scored to make it 3-0.
The game was 3-0 NAIT Ooks at the half.
At the 49-minute mark, NAIT Ooks midfielder, Rayna Hamieh, collided with the Keyano Huskies goalkeeper on her way to the net. Hamieh was given a red card and ejected from the game.
The Keyano Huskies, Natalie Orellana, got a clear line to the net with 12 minutes left and capitalized on the opportunity to put her team on the board and make it a 3-1 game.
The shots in the game were 15-12 for the Keyano Huskies.
Both teams look forward to their next games as playoffs start next weekend.
