The NAIT Ooks women's soccer team kicked off against the Portage Voyageurs Saturday afternoon at the St. Albert Soccer Association. The NAIT Ooks won 9-0 over the Portage Voyageurs.
In the first forty-five minutes of the game, the Ooks' offence came out strong against the Voyageurs' defence. The Ooks took several shots against the Voyageurs' keeper, Gaelyn Verdin. Lamisi Sirett scored the first goal for the Ooks 16 minutes into the game. A couple of plays later, the Ooks number 16, Toni Burse, was able to score on the run after receiving a through ball from number 22, Kadie Sinclair, to give her team a 2-0 lead.
The Voyageurs' keeper, Verdin, stood on her head as she was peppered with shots from the NAIT Ooks offence.
The Ooks' offence did not let up, though, as Ooks forward Rachel Kraft was able to put two balls passed Verdin to give the Ooks a four-goal lead. The Voyageurs' defence worked hard to stop the Ooks but was unsuccessful. Burse scored another goal before the end of the first half, giving the Ooks a 5-0 lead at halftime.
In the last forty-five minutes of the game, the Ooks offence did not let up. At the fifty-minute mark, Ooks player Rachel Kraft was able to put away her third goal of the day. Number eight, Sarah Weremczuk, scored the Ooks' seventh goal after receiving the ball from Toni Burse. Burse scored the eighth goal for the Ooks off a corner kick. Number nine, Rayna Hamieh, scored the ninth and final goal of the day for the Ooks. The Ooks won the game 9-0.
The players of the game were number 16, Toni Burse, from the Ooks and number 21, Robyne Thomas, from the Voyageurs.
