The NAIT Ooks took on the Lakeland Rustlers at home on Friday night. The two teams haven't seen each other since before the Christmas break. It was a hard-fought battle, but the Lakeland Rustlers came ahead, winning 3-0.
Both teams came out strong in the first set. The NAIT Ooks pulled ahead early, but the Rustlers fought back to close the gap. The Rustlers started to garner momentum and went up quickly to defeat the Ooks 25-8. It was 1-0 Lakeland after one.
The Ooks came out strong in the second set, they scored first to open the set, but they were faced with adversity as the Lakeland Rustlers just kept coming. The NAIT Ooks kept it within five for most of the set, but the Rustlers pulled ahead late in the set to win 25-14. 2-0 Lakeland after two sets.
The third set started close, but the Rustlers began to pull ahead at the ten-point mark. Lakeland was up 16-9 and didn't back down. The NAIT Ooks were defeated 25-14 in the third set.
The player of the game for the Ooks was #2 Kate Krogen and for the Rustlers #2 Gracyn Hay
Both teams are back in action tomorrow, Saturday night, at Lakeland College.
