The NAIT Ooks took on the Keyano Huskies Sunday afternoon in the last game of a three-game homestand. The Ooks fell short in the first two games, but they came out flying today. Keyano won 3-0.
The NAIT Ooks got ahead by two to kick off the first set, but the Huskies kept it close. After a good touch by Shelbey Hearn, the Huskies managed to pull ahead. The Huskies hit a couple of balls outside, giving the Ooks a chance to take back the lead. Hearn was a blocking force for the Huskies, and the Ooks had a tough time getting the ball past her. The Ooks came back with a few good plays to keep the score close, but the Huskies finished it by winning 25-21.
The second set started with a bang as the Ooks hit it home first, but the Huskies were quick to jump on the attack. The Huskies went up early and stayed there. The Ooks did their best to try and close the gap, but it wasn't enough. The Huskies won the set 25-21.
The Huskies were up 2-0 going into the third set. It has been a long weekend, but the Ooks weren't ready to pack it in yet. They came out with the same tenacity as they did at the beginning of the game. It was a close game, but the Huskies picked up the pace and went on a bit of a run to pull ahead by a few. The Ooks were diving all over the court to keep the ball in play; they left it all in the third set. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Huskies stayed strong and pulled off a 25-17 win.
